ok, thanks for your analysis and time. I **did** full-format the usbs,
using ubunu startup disk creato and also disk utility. Something went
wrong, obviously there: file mix is of course unhealthy.

My experience with usb-boots is mixed anyway, and my mainboard was also
sick (changed now): not worth to dig deeper.
