Public bug reported: Hi,
/usr/sbin/service is highly useful especially since some ubuntu systems use upstart while others use systemd to handle things in a unique way. However, it is quite talkative, a simple status query produces lots of output. It should have a --quiet option to keep it silent and just report the exit status. regards ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.10 Package: sysvinit-utils 2.88dsf-59.2ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.2.0-14.16-generic 4.2.2 Uname: Linux 4.2.0-14-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.19-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: XFCE Date: Wed Oct 7 11:31:00 2015 Dependencies: gcc-5-base 5.2.1-21ubuntu2 libc6 2.21-0ubuntu4 libgcc1 1:5.2.1-21ubuntu2 InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-09-03 (33 days ago) InstallationMedia: Xubuntu 15.10 "Wily Werewolf" - Alpha amd64 (20150825) SourcePackage: sysvinit UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: sysvinit (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug wily -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1503624 Title: /usr/sbin/service lacks quiet mode To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sysvinit/+bug/1503624/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
