Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gaim

This occurs in Gaim-2.0.0beta6. The display is incorrect when

1) Locale is set to an LTR language
2) Display name ends with RTL words (hereafter "RTL part of name")
3) Text after display name (in conversation window) begins with
direction-neutral glyph, like numerals, punctuation marks etc. (hereafter
"initial text")

The ideal result _on screen_ would be
[RTL part of name] ":" [initial text]

The actual result on screen is
[initial text] ":" [RTL part of name], i.e. the initial text and the colon were
taken to be RTL.

In the latest pidgin MTN code, this should have been solved by the
judicious application of str_embed_direction_chars(char **); However,
not the 2.0.0beta6 code.

See the subsequent attachment for a screenshot.

     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
