Hello, sudo update-alternatives --config java gives: * 1 /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/java 2 /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun/jre/bin/java + 3 /usr/lib/j2sdk1.4-sun/bin/java
Note: I downloaded the jsdk 1.4 and packaged it on a deb, then dpkg -i it. When I ran sudo update-alternatives --all, it showed me the same as above for java. I'm running Gutsy, kubuntu 32bits. The only thin I had to do to fix the problem was the creation of a link between the firefox plugins and the alternatives. So, I don't thing the problem lies on the alternatives itself, but on the missing link in /usr/lib/firefox/plugins/ that points to /etc/alternatives. Here is the output of my machine, from which I gave you the info: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo update-alternatives --config firefox-javaplugin.so There are 3 alternatives which provide `firefox-javaplugin.so'.
