Public bug reported: Ubuntu 15.04 installer was able to partition, format and copy files in SSD. But it was unable to create a boot leading to an installer crash.
The drive was a 256 GB SSD (Samsung 840 Evo), quite new and has been checked for no drive errors, not frozen and not locked. On a previous attempt it reported installation successful, but was unable to boot. So I secure-erased (using hdparm) the drive to try again.
