Do the panics stop happening if you boot the prior kernel version?

YES. The old kernel seems to boot fine. The new kernel kernel panics
with a flashing caps lock led almost every time.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream stable kernel? 

I will try if i can figure out how.
