I can confirm it in Gutsy (kernel 2.6.22-12-generic). I have the same problem with framebuffer kernel parameters vga=791 (1024x768) or vga=839 (1600x1200). I know my video card support those modes because i check it with the command `hwinfo --framebuffer`, and all was fine in Feisty.
