I managed to workaround the issue using aptitude, which automagically removed many conflicting packages. Please, may someone have a look here https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack and check if the installation procedure is correct (I used the vivid one replacing the string vivid with utopic).
