Alex is not very verbose about which upstream fix, but I guess it is the newer LVDS handling and mode fixes. They came after 6.7.193 which is in Gutsy, but they will be included in 6.7.194. Hopefully also the latter will be accepted in Gutsy since it has many bug fixes (and nothing else).
