Public bug reported: I am using a Gigabyte U24T laptop with a touchpad. My touchpad works on some boots but on others it goes missing without a trace. I have been told to look for it with 'xinput --list' and 'cat /proc/bus/input/devices' but neither of these return any touchpad related items. I have attached a link the output of the previously mentioned commands in their respective order.
http://pastebin.com/ZVt487wB http://pastebin.com/qjjeq4BE I can't give any information on the touchpad as it is currently in a non-working state, however, this may or may not change after a reboot. I believe it is an ElanTech touchpad. Not sure what else I can do with this problem, it really annoying to randomly loose mouse functionality sometimes. I don't think it is a problem with the device itself as there have never been any problems in my Windows 8 install. They are boot using different boot methods, Linux is using GRUB through BIOS and Windows in using UEFI. Hope this helps. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Incomplete ** Tags: touch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1483478 Title: Elantech touchpad not detected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1483478/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
