Solution in comment #34 DOES NOT WORK for me. And I noticed the following: during the first few seconds after the screen freezes (may be around 3 to 10 seconds), when I move mouse pointer it changes shape according to what it under it (for example, "I" when hovering text).
Also, during these first seconds of freezing I can (blindly) click UI components or use key combinations and they work, although the content on the screen does no change. For example, if I was listening to music in a tab in Google Chrome, I can press Ctrl+W and the music stops playing.
