I get the same thing. My preferred export format is ogg (as seen in my 
audacity.cfg), but aiff is always shown.
If I export as ogg, but let the aiff extension stay, I am warned about the 
using aiff extension on an ogg file.
If I proceed without changing the extension to ogg, nautilus shows aiff in the 
basic properties, but indicates ogg as the codec in the audio properties.
If the file I am editing has an extra . in the filename before the extension, 
aiff is not appended to the filename at export.
I am using 64 bit Ubuntu 15.04 and everything is up to date and was a fresh 
installation to a new HDD.
