Public bug reported: rtl_power and rtl_fm segfault immediately on execution if no step size is specified in the scanning range. Example of proper syntax: "rtl_power -f 50M:100M:10k -" Improper syntax: "rtl_power -f 50M:100M -" Rather than displaying an error about the missing step size option for the "-f" parameter or usiing some pre-set default, it segfaults. rtl-sdr package version 0.5.3-3 in Ubuntu 15.04.
