I am also experiencing this kind of issue. For me, the problems manifest as buggy display of video when VLC is in windowed mode. (Fullscreen mode is fine.) The UXA tweak does work for me, but makes my laptop noticeably slower, and unusable when I run Virtualbox (this is something I have to do quite a lot, so it a bit of a deal-breaker). I am also using a new Dell XPS 13 and see similar log messages to Moritz Heiber in post #106 above. Is it safe to try the test packages from post #100 in vivid?
