Wouldn't this also apply to Vivid? I look at find that the upstream code should be about the same: https://git.gnome.org/browse/network-manager-applet/tree/src/shell-watcher.c?h=nma-0-9-10#n154
To ship a fix like this as SRU, it would first need to land in the current development release assuming it's still a problem there. I can't reproduce the issue here; using Unity. I can successfully reconnect to my VPN regardless of whether the previous connection was disconnected normally or failed. ** Description changed: - [Impact] - * People who are using VPN services + [Impact] + * People who are using VPN services (of any kind, using vpnc, openvpn, pptp, etc. + [Test Case] - * Use a VPN with Network Manager - [Regression Potential] - * None known. - HOW TO REPRODUCE 1. Upgrade to a newer Ubuntu release. 2. Using the Network Manager application, try to start a virtual private network connection. EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR - The connection to complete successfully. - REAL BEHAVIOUR + ACTUAL BEHAVIOUR - The current configuration files, created by a previous network manager installation in the gconf user home folder, makes the application to misbehave; returning a log like this: + [Regression Potential] + May cause Gnome-Shell detection to give up prematurely. + + [Additional information] Mar 26 13:23:31 hprem-rmbp NetworkManager[855]: <info> Starting VPN service 'vpnc'...
