Public bug reported: Ubuntu version: Ubuntu 15.04 Package version: 2.7-0ubuntu3
When the jayatana package is installed, the message "Picked up JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS: -javaagent:/usr/share/java/jayatanaag.jar" is printed for every Java invocation. I found this rather annoying because I'm often running an Ant-based Java build which will print this for most steps. That's why I deinstalled jayatana in Ubuntu 15.04. I have no use for it because I'm not using Unity. If the jayatana package is uninstalled in Ubuntu 15.04, subsequent invocations of Java will fail with the error message: Picked up JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS: -javaagent:/usr/share/java/jayatanaag.jar Error opening zip file or JAR manifest missing : /usr/share/java/jayatanaag.jar Error occurred during initialization of VM agent library failed to init: instrument The package should clean up to make sure that subsequent invocations of Java work. If that's not possible, it should at least give a message that a restart is required. ** Affects: jayatana (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1453214 Title: Uninstalling the jayatana package breaks Java invocations in Ubuntu 15.04 until restart To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/jayatana/+bug/1453214/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
