This is unacceptable and disturbing change. In Ubuntu 14.04 still work upstart and not systemd.
I don't see even one reason, why init script shouldn't work properly. More than this, I don't see any reason, why there is no comment or warning when I use /etc/init.d/netwroking restart Simply empty output.
