https://code.launchpad.net/~mardy/ubuntu-system-settings-online- accounts/lp1421009/+merge/257267 got added to the PPA now. It seems to move the problem so that it never happens anymore during reboot - after reboot, the account is always still there.
But it'd seem possible that a similar fix to a racy code would be needed somewhere that gets called when "Install" button gets pressed for the first time after a reboot.
