Public bug reported: The build of gretl 1.9.14-2 for i386 contains AVX instructions and so will not run on computers that don't support AVX ("Illegal instruction"). This includes all CPUs from prior to 2011.
The configure script for gretl offers an option to disable AVX, and this should be used when building the package for Ubuntu. The appropriate flag is --disable-avx ** Affects: gretl (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Patch added: "Fixes the Debian "rules" file for gretl build" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1442286/+attachment/4370690/+files/rules.diff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1442286 Title: gretl 1.9.14-2 requires AVX To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gretl/+bug/1442286/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
