ya, I figured that out and got past that. Heh... maybe i need to close
this bug and start a new one to get that across? :) So then when I
install as you suggest:

"If I try to install the latest dmraid package from the repository on
Tribe5, it installs ok, but won't recognize my RAID array. The exact
same RAID array recognizes without a problem from the Feisty Live DVD,
(+dmraid installed)"

dmraid will also work if there is no swap partition on the drive. But...
I need a swap partition for a linux install.
