While we wait for Xubuntu-vivid-daily-build to include the syslinux packages to see if the patch works. I took the liberty of downloading the daily iso and repackaging it with the required syslinux packages. I'm glad to say, that it works; usb memory stick boots straight into the menu, as it should.
