That's an unsupported configuration. I can try to guess what happened.
You were logged in as your regular user and ran mythtv-setup.
mythtv-setup used the "LocalHostName=Backend" line in your mysql.txt.
You added capture cards, etc. Everything looked good.
Than you started the Backend. However, the Backend couldn't find any
settings (or at least capture cards) because it was a different
mysql.txt file which didn't have a LocalHostName entry.
Settings in MythTV are usually host-specific. You don't have to add that
line to mysql.txt.
