I have to dig this up again, because it is still not fixed. I can confirm that with my GA-Z77X-UD5H rev1.0 board with the pink resistor caps and the equaly spaced memory slots the problem stil exists in Ubuntu 14.10 with Kernel 3.16.0-31-generic.
