I agree wholeheartedly with this. Since the dawn of time linux has used 'p' as the separator between base devices that end in a digit and their partition number. multipath-tools broke with this standard and that is the cause of all of these problems, so it is multipath-tools that needs to be brought around to the conventional way of doing things.
