I don't know if this has any connection to a bug filed in LibreOffice Bugzilla but when embedding audio files (even the shortest fragment) Impress hangs for 10 seconds and in fact the whole operating system. The culprit seems to be the libreoffice-avmedia-backend-gstreamer. Without the gstreamer backend installed Impress plays no sound at all from whatever type of file but as soon as the backend is installed you see 10 second freezes each time you try to access that particular slide. Ev entually after the 10 seconds freze the file will be played. For a running presentation this is annoying to say the least. This started in 14.04LTS. In 12.04LTS there is no problem.
