Public bug reported: I set the CLIENTOS variable in /etc/default/xymon-client to rhel3 or to a custom value e.g. ubuntu. The xymon-client init script does not process this CLIENTOS variable.
In need this variable to setup xymon-server file-monitoring for ubuntu clients, because debian and all other linux distributions defined in xymond client-local.cfg using /var/log/messages for syslog. On xymon- server i add the following line to client-local.cfg: [ubuntu] log:/var/log/syslog:10240 ignore MARK But not as expected the xymon-client send the following client data to the xymon-server: [collector:] client piwik.vm.uni-freiburg.de.linux linux In consideration of the CLIENTOS variable the xymon client data should look like [collector:] client piwik.vm.uni-freiburg.de.linux ubuntu lsb_release -rd ---------------------- Description: Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS Release: 14.04 apt-cache policy ------------------------- apt-cache policy xymon-client xymon-client: Installiert: 4.3.7-1ubuntu2 Installationskandidat: 4.3.7-1ubuntu2 Versionstabelle: *** 4.3.7-1ubuntu2 0 500 http://ubuntu.ruf.uni-freiburg.de/ trusty/universe i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ** Affects: xymon (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1425050 Title: xymon-client init script does not process global variables in /etc/default/xymon-client To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xymon/+bug/1425050/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
