I've noticed a strange behavior w/r/t the high CPU load. With wifi enabled, ksoftirqd will use 100% CPU even if I am not connected to a network. However, if I create an ad-hoc network, ksoftirqd will stop. Disconnect the ad-hoc network and it stays that way, no CPU load, UNTIL connecting to a wifi network again. Then the CPU load will again reach 100%.
