SO, we can apt-get install system-config-samba .. but users still need
to know they have to do this before they can make samba work?

What is the current plan of attack on this bug? Are the passwords of samba 
automatically synced with pam now?
That would be perfect!

Another plan of attack would be:
  - make sure the default file permissions are 750/640
  - enable sharing by default (or make it a one-flip switch)
  - put samba security on 'share'

This was a user can share files just by changing the permissions of their files.
This would be the most obvious for the end-user.
