Using i810 is a much better option than not starting compiz because people will eventually turn on desktop effects and then they will have problems. I have been using i810 for a month now and other than having to install the 915resolution package i just don't see enough of a drawback to justify losing either compiz or video playback. unless you want to make it so that people can't install compiz if the intel driver is being used?
