Sure, running the Vivid kernel would be helpful.  That will give use
similar information as running the mainline kernel.  We basically want
to know if it is already fixed in newer kernels.  If it is, the fix may
already have made it to the stable kernels upstream, which we can test
by trying the latest 3.16 upstream kernel.
