Problem happens when using updated kernel also in the repositories: Linux jjc-xps 3.16.0-29-generic #39-Ubuntu SMP Tue Dec 16 20:54:13 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux So problem may be kernel-related or upower/gnome-power-manager not understanding new kernels. Previous report was generated with 3.16.0-29-generic #39.
