Something to test... I had this exact issue on 14.04, when setting up a new wifi network, it would not re-connect automatically after rebooting or suspend. I disabled, saved, then re-enabled the automatic connect setting, and it solved the issue. It's like this setting is disabled by default, but shows as enabled by default, until you force it to be disable to re-sync the actual value and what is shown in the setup tool:
1. go to network setting, select the network and go to "Settings..." 2. in the "General" tab, deselect (uncheck) "Automatically connect to this network" 3.
