I would also be really grateful for this fix. I too have a Xonar U7 and when opening alsamixer in the terminal, all output devices are listed, along with capture devices; however these capture devices are unavailable and you cannot enable them (it lists two for some reason, see here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/498204/usb-sound-card-input- xonar-u7)
