I have tested the 3.18.0-031800rc4-generic kernel.
Issue is still reproducible.
The /proc/bus/input/devices file contains the following as Jane has
mentioned

N: Name="PS/2 FocalTech FocalTech Touchpad in mouse emulation mode"

But the xinput --list command still returns the same output as reported
above.
