Can you be more specific than "everything was slower"? My experience is that Compiz, at least, runs noticeably smoother under Xgl than plain Xorg. While Xgl will have an impact on OpenGL performance, it shouldn't be too much for real-world performance. glxgears is a poor test, as the main bottleneck is putting stuff on the screen, rather than rendering what goes on the screen.
Aside from wine, which interacts badly with Xgl, 3d programs should not perform substantially worse, and general 2D performance should be essentially unaffected. ** Changed in: xserver-xgl (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low -- [Gutsy] XGL halves nvidia driver 100.14.11 performance https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/136650 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
