FIXED!

iface ra0 inet dhcp
wireless-essid My_network_name

in /etc/network/interfaces solved the problem. :-)
I do not know why this did not work at first just by choosing the same 
configuration with "System Settings -- Network settings" (which gives the same 
dialog as above mentioned). Oh well ...
