Public bug reported: Hi, I've recently purchased new hardware: motherboard (MSI P965 Neo2-FI - http://tinyurl.com/2dkdty), Processor (Intel core 2 duo) and a graphics card, NX7300GT. I ran it with the old(=without reinstalling the operating system) 32-bit of Ubuntu and everything was working great, except for the parallel ATA (PATA) devices, an 80gb Maxtor hard drive and a Pioneer DVD-RW drive.
The dvd-rw drive was defective, so I replaced it with a brand new pioneer that connects through serial ATA (SATA) and now is detected successfully. Hard drive was still not detected. All my SATA devices are connected through the ICH8 ports (the marvell one is not, never tried it). I've noticed the same problem when I formatted the root (/) partition and installed the 64-bit (amd64) version. I've also noticed the problem while running the live cds of Ubuntu Feisty Fawn 7.04 and Gutsy Gibbon Tribe 5, so I suspect this is a problem in gutsy as well. I suspect it's a problem in the only ATA133 connector I have, lspci returns: 03:00.0 IDE interface: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. Unknown device 6121 (rev b1) Does this Marvell ATA driver exist? shouldn't it be automatically detected? Thanks I'll attach the full "lspci -v" as a comment. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- PATA devices not detected - Marvell IDE unknown https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/138046 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
