I think that gst-python package was removed in Ubuntu some time ago (check this, probably I am wrong) and it is using now python-gobject (PyGobject). As far I know, I don't have any package installed called gst-python, but I have python-gobject package. I don't know which path and file should I modify for apply the patch. So probably it is better release gst-python-1.2.2 for all users.
