I updated my BIOS, and tested this with the Ubuntu 14.10 live CD. It seems much improved. I got 23 Mb/s in Linux vs 33 Mb/s in Windows on speedtest.net. Obviously that is not the ideal way to test, but my router doesn't have a speed test mechanism, and both tests were performed within a couple of minutes of each other.
So it seems it still isn't quite as good as on Windows, but it is far far better than the ~50 kB/s I was getting previously so I'd say this can be closed. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Expired => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1208197 Title: 7392:7811 Edimax EW-7811UN wifi speeds lower than in Windows To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1208197/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
