Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-app-install

Hello,

I burned a Gutsy default (live i386) CD from cdimage.ubuntu.com, and
booted it on my notebook. The CD booted fine (except that the boot took
so long that the Ubuntu logo disappeared and I was confronted with the
Linux boot messages - maybe the delay should be longer?).

However, the first thing that greeted me when I saw the Gnome desktop
was a crash report of update-app-install. This is not nice. I would have
expected something like a "Welcome to Ubuntu" screen telling me what I
could do (like: "you can try out the system now, or you can start the
installer to copy it onto your hard disk to use it permanently, where it
will start much faster, etc").

IMHO, the update manager has nothing to do on a live system anyway,
since the live CD can't be written to - right?

I will append the *.crash file to this bug report.

Thanks,

Jens
