Public bug reported:

While using the unity8 "next" desktop session preview on my Lenovo
laptop I am noticing that when I type an @ symbol, what follows is
suddenly all in caplocks, and further, my period key ( . ) can only type
this symbol ( >).

This happens in any input text box I try on the system. For example,
when trying to log into my email through the browser, I type my email
account name and when I type the @ symbol, all that follows is cap
locked, and the period key doesn't input properly.
