Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager
As of 9-4-2007 updates to Gutsy, the brightness controls on my Thinkpad T23 no longer work correctly when on battery power. Whenever I hit the brightness control hot-keys, the brightness decreases to minimum and then increases one notch on successive presses, then immediately jumps back down to minimum. This happens regardless of settings in the power preferences. Intrerestingly, if I slide the brightness slider, the brightness of the screen "flashes", with seemingly random actual brightness levels at each % increment. Really odd. This notkey has worked perfectly on this laptop from Hoary until now, and also works when outside of gnome. presumably it is a built-in hardware function.
