Ok, This is now working for me, but all I did was try the 9755 driver again. I got it to load, but the display was not working properly. I had to copy some files over from the /usr/X11R6/lib folder to the /usr/lib/xorg/modules folder to even get it to try and load without error. After that I reinstalled nvidia-glx-new driver from the repos. The libglx.so.1.0.9755 files is still held over from that attempt in that folder.
I still had to manually edit the /lib/modules files with the legacy entries in them (Deleted them) to get X to start. After that, direct rendering report yes and compiz started just fine. So I still think there is a link broken or missing that I somehow "repaired" that prevented the nvidia glx library from loading. This fixed 3) and 4) from above. Not sure 1) is an actual problem (but it would be confusing to a user. 2) is still a problem. -- nvidia-glx-new 100.14.11-prevents compiz from working https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/136716 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
