Well, I think that the right thing to do is trying to follow what's happening on the alsa bugreport: https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug/view.php?id=3104 with the realtek17 patch on top of a recent kernel I have sound, muting and recording, although with problems (headphone level is quite low, recording qualty is barely acceptable, etc).
