Public bug reported: After installing 14.04 x64, I needed to install the media-included proprietary driver to use my wifi. Unfortunately, after enabling the install media as a software source in Software & Updates, I was still unable to install the package as it could not locate the install media. It informed me that it could not find the dvd in /media/cdrom/. I discovered that Ubuntu had automatically mounted the dvd on /media/$USER/ instead. Using terminal I mounted the media to /mount/cdrom/, at which point I was able to proceed normally.
If the dvd is going to be mounted to /media/$USER/, then I'd assume the project manager should be searching there instead of /media/cdrom/. Currently installing packages from the DVD requires the dvd to be manually mounted to /media/cdrom/ in the terminal. (I have not had a chance to try to replicate this on another machine yet) ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1352770 Title: Install DVD media mounts to /media/$USER/, package manager requires /media/cdrom/ to install packages post-install To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1352770/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
