I also have a system which I thought could not be upgraded beyond 12.04 because of a lack of PAE support, but then I recently found that many Pentium M CPUs can work with a PAE kernel, but do not advertise PAE support.
To check whether this is the case for your system, simply install a PAE kernel: sudo apt-get install linux-generic-pae linux-headers-generic-pae See: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EnablingPAE If you find your system really does not work with a PAE kernel, all is not lost, see: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Lubuntu-fake-PAE I'm marking this bug as affecting modemmanager instead of modem-manager- gui. ** Changed in: modem-manager-gui (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1340154 Title: On modem initialization, Modem Manager 0.5.2 sets text mode instead of PDU mode for SMS, but newer modems can't work in this mode To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/modem-manager-gui/+bug/1340154/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
