There seems to be a persistent bug affecting legacy CUPS servers. The primary cups binary has apparently not been fixed, but cups14 remains, presumably as a workaround. In my case, I moved aside /usr/lib/cups/backend/ipp and then
# ln -sf /usr/lib/cups/backend/ipp14 /usr/lib/cups/backend/ipp # /etc/init.d/cups restart And workstation was now able to obtain status and job printed. root@emile-IdeaCentre-Q190:/etc# cat /etc/issue Ubuntu Utopic Unicorn (development branch) \n \l root@emile-IdeaCentre-Q190:/etc# uname -r 3.15.0-6-generic IIRC my users have had this problem since an update in Karmic or Lucid, and it's disheartening to see it continue to the present. Assuming its the same bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1038667 Title: cups network printing doesn't work ubuntu 12.04 server To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/1038667/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
