I tried to investigate the preamplifier chip further but run into another bug. I'm not able to access the SMBus. When I execute "modprobe i2c-i801", the following appears in the kernel log:
[...] ACPI Warning: SystemIO range 0x000000000000f040-0x000000000000f05f conflicts with OpRegion 0x000000000000f040-0x000000000000f04f (\_SB_.PCI0.SBUS.SMBI) (20140214/utaddress-258) [...] ACPI: If an ACPI driver is available for this device, you should use it instead of the native driver I tried mainline kernel 3.15.6 but the problem is still present.
