Same here. Samsung N230 netbook, Intel ATOM; XUbuntu 14.04 LTS Closing the lid, waiting for suspension. Once the lid is open the computer wakes up but the screen in blank. Restarting lightdm is possible although not feasible since you'd loose all the work that you did not save (thus making suspension useless).
As stated in #43, #100 and #134 manually starting pm-suspend works.
