this is still an annoying issue on Precise, Trusty & Utopic at least.
Its a show stopper bug for all the users without a third system or
distro as he can't search for a possible workaround.

If you get into trouble for booting, then at least the recovery mode
have to be bug free as possible. Letting such issue without assigning it
is not a taste of serious distro.
